Radiance was an American R&B and funk band, popular in the 1980s. The band was initially formed by neighborhood friends in Oakland, California and after catching the eyes and ears of Joseph Jackson (father of the Jackson 5/Jacksons) at the BRE convention in Los Angeles, the band landed a recording contract with Quincy Jones’ Qwest Records. In 1984, Radiance signed to Qwest Records/Warner Bros., and released the LP “Pick ‘n Choose” in 1985 which yielded the hit single “All Night” which scored in the Billboard black singles top 100 chart (#81) and the maxi-single “All Night/Where Da Freaks At?” which peaked at #44 on the Billboard Hot Dance Music / Maxi-Singles chart. Radiance was known for their electrifying stage performance similar to that of The Jacksons but tensions from within the group built over the late 1980’s and the group’s second album was recorded but never released. Radiance disbanded in 1987. They reunited August 18th, 2011, at Dimitri’s Lounge, Suisun City, California.
