Blackstones, The

The Blackstones were a London based trio consisted of Leon Leiffer and his two brothers Byron and Neville. The group was active from the late 70’s to the late 80’s. They definitely got inspired by Bob Marley during their entire career and reached charted in the UK with some reggae tracks and albums. The blackstones actually enjoyed more success in Jamaica than in Europe.

But what makes us focus on this reggae band is only one track they had in ’85 that features Lance Ellington vocals and stands as their only boogie/soul track. This was clearly a common situation in the UK way back in the 80’s: several raggae singers got involved in some disco and soul projects durng the decade such as Peter Hunnigale, Janet Kay or Christine Lewin to name a few…
